Brave

Brave is a Chromium-based privacy-focused web browser. On FreeBSD, it runs via the Linux compatibility layer (linux-brave package).

Brave is installed as a Linux compatibility package:

sudo pkg install linux-brave

This installs Brave under /usr/local/share/brave/ with a wrapper script at /usr/local/bin/brave-browser.

Brave uses standard Chromium configuration at ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/.

The theme-set script applies the active omfreebdy theme’s accent color to Brave via managed policies:

~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/policies/managed/theme.json

Theme changes take effect on the next Brave launch.

Brave’s settings are managed through its built-in settings UI (brave://settings). The Linux compatibility layer handles audio (PulseAudio) and GPU acceleration automatically.
